The mission of the Hazelwood Elementary school counseling program is to provide every student with equal access to academic support, social/emotional development and college and/or career readiness tools through a comprehensive, student-focused school counseling program to help all students achieve their full potential.

Each student can achieve academic, career and social/emotional success when given appropriate and timely support and interventions as well as rigorous and relevant instruction.
Each student has the right to a safe and nurturing high-quality instructional environment that supports and enhances academic achievement and leadership.
Each student's’ ethnic, cultural and racial differences and special needs are considered in the planning and implementation of the school counseling program .
The school counseling program is based on specified goals and developmental student standards. It is accountable and evaluated by using data for program development and ongoing assessment.
The school counselor will collaborate with families, stakeholders and community resources to meet student needs and assist student development.
The school counselor will abide by ASCA’s Ethical Standards for School Counselors.
The school counselor will respond collaboratively to educate students by providing a challenging and engaging program that aligns with the ASCA National Model.
